Ersan Saner: A CALL TO THE TURKISH AND ISLAMIC WORLD

“The Turkish Cypriots have been lingering for 53 years. The Greeks are still dreaming of the Great Byzantine and they sat at the negotiating table in Geneva with this thesis. There is no other option in Cyprus except for a two-state solution.

Despite the irreconcilable attitude of the Greek Cypriot side, we were there with very reasonable theses in line with the island conditions.

Minister Saner said, “The latest Geneva meeting once again showed that the Greeks continue to stand at the same point.

They continue to ignore the Turkish Cypriots. However, nothing will be the same on the island of Cyprus anymore. Despite our commitment to constructive attitude and negotiation, it should be well known that we will never back down from the thesis of the sovereign two equal states.

In this regard, the Turkish Cypriot people are also with us. Even those who previously favored the federation thesis have lost hope.

We will consult with the Presidency and homeland Turkey regarding the next process and we will determine our road map for the future. The Cyprus issue cannot continue like this.

Expectations for an invitation or official visit from Azerbaijan are very high in the Turkish Republic of Cyprus.

Prime Minister Ersan Saner, whose opinions we asked about this issue, said, “We are waiting for concrete steps to be recognized not only from Azerbaijan, but from the whole Turkic world and Islamic countries.”

Noting that they expect a more reasonable and positive attitude from other countries of the world, especially from the UK, Saner said that especially the Turkish President Erdoğan, the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlût Çavuşoğlu and the public support from the mother country played a very important role and thanked for the support given in this process.
