    However, everyone knows that the demands of the Turkish Cypriot people for a solution did not find the necessary response from the Greek Cypriot leaders. Two of the most important examples of this in recent history are the Annan Plan referendum in 2004 and the second Crans Montana conference in 2017. For the last two years since Crans Montana, the Turkish Cypriot side has consistently emphasized the three elements that Anastasiadis mentioned in his speech in order to prepare reference concepts. These are the Joint Statement of 11 February 2014, the reconciliations to date and the Guterres Framework of 30 June 2017. Anastasiadis mentioned in his speech that the Guterres Framework did not accept the fact that it was dated June 30, 2017, for the past two years and that he did not know that he had prevented Mr. Lute’s efforts from being productive by inventing documents that did not exist as of July 4.

    In addition, the fact that he did not mention the 2-in-1 rotating presidency, which is an important indicator of political equality, indicates that the content of the framework is still difficult to accept clearly. Both the rotating presidency and the active participation in the decisions are important principles of political equality that existed between the previous agreements and turned into a UN parameter.

    It is a great contradiction both to say that it accepts past consensus and to reject these principles negatively affects the formation of reference concepts. At this point, it became inevitable that the UN Secretary General would take a stand out by adopting these parameters which became the UN principle.

    As regards hydrocarbons, our joint committee proposal is still on the table and shows the way out. Since energy policy in the Eastern Mediterranean concerns both communities of the island, it is the most peaceful and rational way to manage and exploit its benefits.

    Conducting this issue in a constructive way will not only benefit all parties, but will also contribute to the peace and stability of the region and will positively affect Turkish-Greek relations. The finalization of the Cyprus problem, which has been ongoing since 1963, not in 1974, as claimed, has been concluded in favor of all parties with a new federal status, as stated in the Joint Document of 11 February 2014, with a bi-communal, bi-communal, two-constituent state based on political equality. is our greatest wish. With this constructive attitude, political will and determination, we are ready to work with UN Secretary-General Guterres in good faith to establish such a future.
