Kudret Özersay: It is not possible to go back to before 1974

“IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO RETURN TO BEFORE 1974”

People’s Party Leader Kudret Özersay discussed the statement of the Government of South Cyprus to return to 1960; “Everyone knows very well that there is no return to the Republic of Cyprus, including the Greek Cypriot leadership, who said this” Explaining that this move contains two different reasons,

Özersay said, “Coming up with this proposal, even though it is known that it will not happen, is a step towards balancing the different politics in the new era that we have put forward or to make counter-moves.”

Let me make a more rigid statement as the Greek Cypriot side, I will raise the bar so that if there is a negotiation tomorrow, I will go backwards from the point of the Republic of Cyprus’. The turkish Cypriot side and Turkey’s idea of a two-state solution is not aimed at boosting bargaining. The Greek side did not understand this.”

“THE SECRET GOAL OF THE GREEK LEADERSHIP BEHIND THE SCENES HAS ALWAYS BEEN A RETURN TO THE REPUBLIC OF VANITY”

In the past, the dominance, confederation references or reference of the founding President Mr. Denktas were the approaches aimed at creating a bargaining chip.

It would have been understandable for the Greek side to make this move against such an approach,”  pointing out that at this point, there is a ‘new situation’ created by anastadiades. He made the issue talkable because he sent a message to both the European Union officials, the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, the Turkish Cypriot leader and the Greek Cypriot Archbishop that ‘Behind closed doors, I can actually discuss two-statehood’.

The alternative solution offered by Turkey and the Turkish Cypriot leadership, as the Greek side is not ready to share management and wealth, was not put forward to increase the negotiations and to withdraw them later.

The Greek leadership needs to see this.

The Greek Cypriot leadership also had an idea that it had been hiding all these years coming to the negotiating table; he always negotiated as a return to the Republic of Cyprus when negotiating the federation. Behind the scenes, the hidden goal is designed as a return to the Republic of Cyprus, which they already have.”

“WHAT WE NEED IS TO CREATE A MODEL OF A NORTHERN CYPRUS TURKISH REPUBLIC”

Hp leader said that he did not find these rhetoric realistic and sincere when asked about Prime Minister Ersan Saner’s goal of making the TRNC a free zone, adding that “there is no credibility to send these messages because UBP has a congress.”

Reminding that 12 years ago the President of UBP at the time set the same goal, Özersay stated that the party could not go the way in this regard, adding: “You ask why Northern Cyprus should not be a Singapore, a Dubai.

    AND THE ANSWER IS?

    [penci_ads id=”penci_ads_1″]

You’ve been in government as a party all these years, why didn’t you take this step? It is stated that the work on the free zone is shared with Turkey; There are so many universities, economists, chambers of commerce, chambers of industry, ngos in this country.

You sat down with these stakeholders and came to this conclusion?

I passed the State Planning Organization,

I asked Mr. Fikri Ataoglu, and asked him what he thought? Does Economy and Energy Minister Erhan Arikli know about this idea of a free zone? What we need is to create a model of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, not Singapore, Dubai. In international relations, each conflict has its own characteristics.

The political structure in Singapore is directly related to the population structure, the strategic, geostrategic situation with neighboring countries and the interests of international actors in the region.

Today, there are situations where trnc has its own advantages and disadvantages. We have to find our own way out. When finding this way, it is necessary to sit down and talk to the stakeholders of the economy.”
