    Karaismailoğlu: Another 314 kilometers of road will be built in the TRNC in 10 years

    A joint press conference was held with the Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Adil Karaismailoğlu and the Minister of Public Works and Transport of the TRNC Official Eroğlu Canaltay after their meeting at the Ministry.

    Karaismailoğlu underlined that the fate, past, present and future of the two countries are common.

    Karaismailoğlu stated that one of the most important goals of the TRNC to become stronger and have a say in the region “Under the leadership of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, we will continue to fulfill our historical duty to ensure the peace, welfare, development and security of the Turkish Cypriot people.” said.

    Protecting the Cyprus cause is a requirement of respect for the past and a strong ideal for the future, Karaismailoğlu continued as follows:

    “Within the framework of this partnership, it is among our goals that the TRNC will also make significant contributions to the TRNC with the investments it has made to make our country a logistics power, and that the economy and employment will increase in the region.

    “It reveals once again how important it is to act within the borders of Turkey. The holistic development of Turkey also means the holistic development of the TRNC.”

    Karaismailoğlu stated that, as a requirement of this integrity, they are in intensive cooperation with the TRNC’s Ministry of Public Works and Transport in communication and communication projects as well as transportation modes on land, air, rail and sea routes.

    Within the scope of the cooperation between the two countries in the field of highways covering the years 1988-2020, they have opened a total of 602 kilometers of roads, 181 kilometers of divided roads on 19 separate road sections and 421 kilometers of single roads on 20 separate road sections, in addition to 5 important land routes. Karaismailoğlu, who said that they continue their investments on the highway, reminded that they renewed the existing land agreements between the countries and signed the Highways 2021-2022 Implementation Protocol in February.

    Karaismailoğlu underlined that they have expanded the road agreements to cover the years 2020-2030, and that they will build 314 kilometers of roads, including 221 kilometers of divided roads and 93 kilometers of 1st class roads, in the TRNC within 10 years.

    Karaismailoğlu pointed out that the TRNC’s cooperation in the installation of traffic safety and radar systems on highways continues to strengthen, and said:

    “I would also like to point out that our cooperation is not limited to land routes only. With the agreements we signed this year, we will establish the Ship Traffic Services System between the two countries. This project has a strategic importance between the two countries. Search and rescue activities between the ministries of the two countries, as well as the search and rescue activities of ships in the ports in the TRNC.

    We continue to work on the development of the ports of Famagusta and Kyrenia and the construction of a new cargo port in Kalecik. The steps we have taken to strengthen the dominance of both Turkey and the TRNC in the seas will result in employment for the future generations of both countries as soon as possible.

    In line with this approach, we are pleased with the TRNC’s membership in the International Association of Marine Navigational Aids and Lighthouse Authorities.I would also like to state that we continue to develop and maintain our Civil Aviation Cooperation Agreement with the TRNC.”

    Minister Karaismailoğlu stated that it is aimed to complete the 1st stage works at Ercan Airport, which is carried out and under construction by the General Directorate of State Airports Authority, by the end of this year.

    Emphasizing that they have not neglected to develop cooperation between the two countries in the fields of broadcasting and communication, Karaismailoğlu said, “In this respect, we will witness together in the coming days how important the contribution of Çamlıca Tower, which is the symbol of New Turkey, which we have opened recently, in terms of both engineering and communication capability. Both sides have a strong common will to accelerate joint projects between our countries.” he said.

    Karaismailoğlu stated that they continue to strengthen their cooperation in trade, tourism, energy, education and cultural issues, as well as in the public works and transportation sectors, between Turkey and the TRNC,

    “I would like to emphasize that our cooperation opportunities will further develop with our new good news in energy exploration and drilling activities in the Eastern Mediterranean. ” he said.

    TRNC Minister Canaltay also said in his speech that Turkey has always had doors opening to the whole world. Explaining that as the Ministry, they continue to work to develop and strengthen relations with Turkey, Canaltay said, “Motherland Turkey has many projects in the TRNC. We would like to thank the Turkish Minister for the support and cooperation so that they come to life, accelerate and we can walk hand in hand in many more projects. thank you.”.
