UNDERGROUND FIRE AT WOOD GREEN – UPDATE (VIDEO)

Firefighters rushed to put out an “underground” fire which has caused the closure of a busy road in Wood Green

The fire which broke out near the junction Alexandra Road and Wood Green High Road started shortly before 3pm on Thursday 24th Octobe4.

Buses were diverted as emergency services dealt with the incident. Routes 84, 121, 221, 329 and 67 were affected.

Footage has emerged showing fire appearing to come straight out of the pavement with a pillar of smoke rising above the neighbouring buildings.

A witness reported the fire was “coming from underground”.

Metropolitan Police and London Fire Brigade have been contacted for a statement and MyLondon awaits a response.
