Police and the ambulance service were called to the Stratford Centre mall at 3.20pm but were unable to save the boy.
A teenage boy has been stabbed to death outside a McDonald’s restaurant in east London.
Officers were called at 3.20pm and said the attack happened outside the Stratford Centre mall.
A witness said the victim was “all covered in blood” and was “in pain and tried getting up”.
He continued: “There were people around gathering. It was scary as you did not know if any of them could have had a knife, too.”
A section 60 order, giving officers the power to stop and search in the area, has been implemented, and a large part of the road outside was closed off.
A post-mortem will be held to establish the cause of death.
The shopping centre tweeted that it was closed and would remain so until further notice.
