A third person is wanted for the attack on a Turkish Cypriot woman in Ayia Napa

Police assess CCTV in Ayia Napa case

A third person appears to be involved in the case of assault and grievous bodily harm against a 25-year-old girl, which occurred around 03:30 am on Saturday in a central area of Ayia Napa.

As Steve Theodoulou, spokesman of the Famagusta Police Headquarters, told CNA, “the investigators of the Famagusta ICF are evaluating the visual footage obtained from the closed-circuit video surveillance from the area in Ayia Napa, where the attack took place. From the footage assessed by the police, it appears that there is a third person along with the two other people aged 22 and 30 who were arrested in the case.”

Asked whether there was a racist motive in the case, as in her complaint the complainant raised the issue of origin, Theodoulou replied that “all possibilities are being investigated”.

To another question, he replied that “efforts are being made to identify the third person who, according to the visual footage, appears to have been with the two people arrested in connection with the case on Saturday afternoon. The two people were brought on Sunday, June 4, before the Famagusta District Court, which issued a detention order against them for four days.”

The Famagusta ICF is investigating the case.
