    GC Gamblers blackmailed by Syrian creditors

    Two Greek Cypriots, one female and one male, who were gambling in the TRNC casinos, were exposed to threats and blackmail from the Syrian creditors.

    Politis newspaper reported, “Casinos in the Occupied Territories Casinos with 25 percent interest per month borrowed money – creditor accused of blackmail” in the report titled the Syrian, blackmail, threat and charges yesterday, the 6-day detention order was issued to the Nicosia Greek Accident Court said.

    The newspaper stated that the Syrians were arrested as a result of the crimes committed between 2015 and 2 October 2019 and that the two Greek Cypriots who were exposed to threats and blackmail from the Syrian creditors met with the Syrians in the TRNC casinos.

    The two Greek Cypriots lost their money as a result of gambling in the TRNC, on which the Syrians borrowed money at a rate of 25 percent per month. The newspaper wrote that the Greek Cypriot woman, who was a victim of blackmail, could not pay her debt, She said that the suspect creditor sent some men to the woman’s house to collect her money.
