UniteCyprusNow calls to action against division

UniteCyprusNow (UCN) is launching a call to action against division with the theme “What are YOU doing against division?” The call to action will start with events in three cities in November.

The aim of the call to action is to encourage Cypriots to join the discussion and take charge of their future.

The events under this call will take place on 8 November in Nicosia (Goethe Institut), on 13 November in Limassol (TEPAK) and on 22 November in Famagusta (Mağusa Gelişim Akademisi). New members, now numbering well over 700, will also be informed about UCN’s vision (a united Cyprus for all Cypriots), mission (connecting Cypriots) and its new organisational structure during the events. These events are being supported by the Friedrich-Ebert-Foundation.

The events will continue with meetings in other towns in the following months.

As part of the campaign to raise awareness for the call for action, UCN released a short film on 30 October, which was shot at various locations all over the island. The film, which explains what UCN stands for, and underlines the multicultural character of Cypriots, was seen by more than 30,000 people within 24 hours.

Sponsored by Quip Production and directed by Evren Maner, the movie features Greek, Turkish, Armenian, Maronite and Latin Cypriot activists, who underlined their commitment to work for a peaceful, united island.
