    Major UK police search in Devon under way for vulnerable Cypriot woman

    A major search is underway across a Devon village tonight for a vulnerable pensioner.

    The National Police Air Service and officers on foot are leading the effort to locate a 71-year-old woman suffering from dementia.

    The elderly Cypriot lady was last seen at a church in Tedburn St Mary, eight miles west of Exeter, at 11 am on Thursday, August 22.

    Police received a call for her welfare shortly after 6 pm.

    Last night, a helicopter is scouring the skies above the village and using a thermal imaging camera to try and find her.

    Officers are also carrying out inquiries on the ground.

    Anyone who has any information about the woman’s whereabouts should dial 999, quoting today’s date and log number 808.

    Police have also revealed the name of the missing lady in Tedburn St Mary is Laila Nassar.

    Anyone with information about Laila’s whereabouts should call police on 999, quoting log number 966 and today’s date.

    The police description of missing woman

    Police have released details of the missing lady in the hope she can be found.

    The 71-year-old is Cypriot and cannot speak any English. She also suffers from dementia.

    She has short, white hair, of slim build and was last seen wearing a grey jumper and jeans.

    The lady was last seen near a church in Tedburn St Mary at 11 am this morning.

    Concerns for her welfare were reported to the police at 6 pm and a search is currently underway to try and locate her.
