The Meteorological Department has issued on Monday a yellow warning for extreme high temperature throughout the island.
It is valid from 2100 yesterday evening until 1600 today.
Maximum temperatures today are expected to be around 40 C inland.
The Forestry Department has also announced that a “red alert” warning for the risk of fire will continue to be in effect on Monday and is urging the public to refrain from activities that may cause a fire.
The public is also urged not to proceed with any activities that might spark a fire such as welding or use of any agricultural machinery that produces heat.
