    Amini’s message to the women of Cyprus

    It will be objected by some that all the discrimination I mentioned above is minor and that few women complain

    The violent death of Mahsha Amini by Iran’s Moral Police for not wearing her hijab “correctly” reminds us of Islam’s oppression of women.

    In almost all Muslim countries, women do not have the right to seek divorce, and many young teenage girls are forced by their parents into marriage. Women and men who are not related to each other are not allowed to appear together in public.

    Women cannot hold decision-making positions in government offices. Teachers cannot teach in girls’ schools and women are excluded from many fields of study at universities. In…
