Cyprus Breaking News

Police carried out 3242 checks on pedestrians and drivers overnight and booked 32 for failing to comply with the restriction of movement decree.

Today is the last day in which the restrictions apply.

Checks were also carried out 731 premises between 6 pm on Tuesday and 6 am on Wednesday and two businesses in Limassol were found to be in violation of decrees to contain the spread of coronavirus. Both concerned individuals not wearing a face mask.

The breakdown for the checks on pedestrians and drivers was as follows:

Nicosia: 1,402 checks, 2 booked

Limassol: 381 checks, 4 booked

Larnaca: 217 checks, 1 booked

Paphos: 513 checks, 12 booked

Famagusta: 292 checks, 8 booked

Morphou: 133 checks, none booked

Police HQ traffic unit: 282 checks, 5 booked

MMAD: 21 checks, none booked
