Akinci proposes opening of two more checkpoints in Lefkosa 1

North Cyprus President Mustafa Akinci is proposing the opening of two more checkpoints in Lefkosa — one for cars near Famagusta Gate and the second for pedestrians at Paphos Gate.

Akinci said he has put the issue to President Nicos Anastasiades at their recent meeting adding that the Greek Cypriot side’s priority appears to be the opening of a checkpoint at Erenköy and another at Pyrroi to facilitate Athienou residents’ access to Nicosia.

He added that he has also discussed the issue with UNFICYP chief Elizabeth Spehar
