Akıncı made a call to Guterres for an informal meeting 1

President Mustafa Akıncı made a call to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to organize an informal meeting with the participation of the five parties in order to clarify the process of the comprehensive solution.

In his letter of 10 July 2019 to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, President Akıncı pointed out the contributions of the Turkish side to the process carried out by the UN and the need of clarifying the clouded atmosphere created following the statements of the Greek Cypriot Administration Leader, with an informal meeting with the participation of the five parties.

Tatar: “Turkey have taken the necessary steps for our interests”

Akıncı also underlined that the increase of the tension in the region makes the need for a comprehensive settlement more urgent and an informal meeting with the participation of the five parties would help to understand if all the participants have the same target.
