In the House of Commons, MP Thangam Debbonaire has told UK Prime Minister Theresa May that time is up on Brexit.
In a punchy exchange in the House of Commons, the Bristol MP told Theresa May she had dithered too long on securing the UK’s exit from the European Union and called on her to accept the options were now no Brexit at all or to give the people a final say on the Brexit deal.
The Labour whip – a convert to holding a second referendum – said: “The Prime Minister says it is her deal, no deal or no exit from the EU. But we voted against her deal and we voted against no deal for good reason.
“But she’s not shifted and she’s out of time. Will she admit now that all that is left is no exit, or will she go back to the people?”
The PM replied: “The honourable lady knows full well my response to going back to the people – I believe the people were given the choice of whether we should remain in the European Union in 2016.
